Conservatory and Roof Blinds,
Made to Fit Properly

Conservatories are the hardest rooms in the house to dress: heat in summer, cold in winter, glare on the television and glazing that is rarely square. We measure every pane and roof panel at your home, then supply and fit made-to-measure blinds that actually suit the space, across Peterborough, Cambridge and the surrounding areas.

Why conservatories are
the trickiest room

A conservatory is mostly glass, and glass is why it is wonderful in May and difficult in July and January. Heat builds through the roof, glare lands on screens and furniture fades in direct sun. In winter the same glazing lets the warmth out. Curtains rarely suit the space, and ready-made blinds almost never fit frames and roof panels that were built to their own measurements.

None of this means the room cannot be comfortable year-round. It means the blinds need choosing for the job the room actually does, and measuring pane by pane rather than hoping standard sizes will do. That is exactly the sort of work we enjoy.

The Options

Blinds that suit
glass rooms

These are the options we most often recommend for conservatories, garden rooms and orangeries. All are made to measure, supplied and fitted.

Pleated and cellular blinds

The conservatory favourites. Cellular honeycomb fabrics trap a layer of air that helps keep heat out in summer and warmth in through winter, and solar-reflective backings tackle glare. Neat when raised, effective when lowered.

Perfect Fit blinds

Frames that clip directly into uPVC windows and doors with no drilling, so the blind moves with the door and never swings or catches. Especially good for conservatory doors and tilt-and-turn windows.

Conservatory roof blinds

The biggest difference-maker, because most of the heat and glare comes through the roof. Roof panels are measured individually, including shaped and angled panes, and fitted so they sit neatly within the glazing bars.

Vertical and roller blinds

Practical choices for larger side glazing and sliding doors, with a wide fabric range including dim-out and blackout options where the conservatory doubles as a snug or office.

Bifold doors and
garden rooms

Modern extensions and garden rooms share the conservatory problem: large glazed areas that need privacy, shade and insulation without spoiling the view. For bifold and patio doors, BlindScreen® is often the strongest answer, with privacy, blackout, thermal and flyscreen options designed for exactly these openings.

If you are weighing up the options for large glass doors, our guide to window dressings for bifold and patio doors compares them honestly.

More measuring than
any other room

A conservatory can easily involve a dozen panes, each slightly different, plus roof panels that taper or angle. Ria measures every one at your home, checks the frame depths and glazing bars, and brings fabric samples so you can judge colours and light in the room itself. Your blinds are then made to measure and fitted by our own careful fitter, who treats your conservatory like the finished room it is, right down to his indoor house shoes.

You can read more about how we work on our measuring and fitting service page, or see the full blind range on our blinds page.

Common questions about
conservatory blinds

Yes. We supply and fit conservatory roof blinds, including shaped and angled roof panels. Roof glazing is measured panel by panel at your home, because conservatory roofs are rarely square and ready-made sizes rarely fit properly.

Pleated and cellular blinds are popular for conservatories because they help manage heat and fit neatly. Perfect Fit blinds clip into uPVC frames without drilling and move with the windows and doors. Vertical and roller blinds also suit some conservatories. The right answer depends on your frames, the direction the conservatory faces and how you use the room, which is what the home consultation works out.

They can help noticeably. Solar-reflective and cellular fabrics reduce heat build-up through the glass, and covering the roof glazing makes the biggest difference because that is where most of the heat comes in. How much difference depends on the conservatory, so we advise honestly at the consultation rather than promising figures.

Yes. Ria measures every pane and roof panel at your home and our own fitter installs everything. Conservatories involve more measuring than any other room, so this is not a job we would ever leave to guesswork or standard sizes.
